  • Other matters.

Thank you and see you all on Sunday.

Emergency Meeting with Fr. Chong

Father Chong, our parish priest, has requested all choir coordinators and accompanists to attend the emergency meeting today at 2:00 p.m.

This meeting is regarding the new songs to be included as Communion and Recessional songs in the September lineup namely the Sumasaakin Ang Espiritu (based from Luke 4:18-19) and the BEC (Basic Ecclesiastical Community) Theme Song respectively.

We hope that the member choirs of MRPMM will send their representatives to the said meeting. Thank you and good day.

June 2008: Minutes of the Meeting

This is the summary of topics discussed during the monthly meeting yesterday.

  • Suggestion by the Coordinator to pursue a new scheduling scheme. Reason: Cannot effectively implement the “No Attendance, No Schedule” policy because all masses in the parish should be serviced by a choir. Pros: all liturgical celebrations held in the parish would be serviced by a choir. Cons: not all choirs can commit to the change.
  • Obtaining the lists of members with residence and contact information from choir representatives as requested by Bro. James. Reason: for the parish internal survey.
  • Creation of the mobile service of the music ministry. Reason: to expedite information dissemination among members.
  • Designing of new scheduling form with counter signature of choir representatives. Pros: helpful to members who question officers regarding mass services not acquired by their respective choirs.
  • Report on the Parish Pastoral Council meeting last month regarding the reorganization of ugnayans or BECs. Reason: the group can help the parish by participating in the survey of the current and active ugnayans or BECs in the parish.
  • Presentation of a group of parishioners from BF Homes Phase 1 who are scouting for choirs from the music ministry for them to join.
  • Checking of repertoires or lineup of choirs during their mass services due to the return to the Ordinary Time.
  • Suggestions by the Assistant Coordinator to check the sound system of the parish and to conduct meeting of music ministry officers prior to the monthly meetings.
  • Reiteration of the Coordinator for officers to submit resignation letters if they wish to step down from their duly elected positions.

  • 27, Thursday, 6:00 PM - Koinonia
  • 28, Friday, 6:00 PM - ME Parish Choir

Emergency Meet w/ Fr. Henry

Fr. Henry Romero, our assistant parish priest, requested an emergency meeting with every member of the MRPMM. He is, in fact, heralded by our parish priest, Fr. Chong, to oversee the music ministry in terms of our involvement with the parish activities (particularly on masses and liturgical celebrations). Below are the things he pointed out during the meeting with the ministry:

  • The Lead Choir should sing the song Liwanag Ng Aming Puso as the exultet during the Blessing of Fire and Water on Black Saturday.
  • Starting this Easter, except for the Ordinary Time, choirs should submit their seasonal repertoire in advance for approval.
  • Choirs should be, at all times, conscious of the fact that they are part of the celebration. The choir cannot go on without the Eucharist but the Eucharist can go on without the choir.
  • As a disciplinary act for choirs with members who misbehave during masses, they are required to sing in front of everybody during the mass or liturgical celebration.
  • There is a plan to have a fifteen-minute (15) interval for each masses held in the afternoon and the evening. Aside from facilitating the human traffic (i.e. parishioners), this time will also be accorded for choirs to familiarize the incoming parishioners of the songs to be sung during the said mass or liturgical celebration.
  • Choirs should also maintain a personnel to handle the overhead projector during masses for the “flashing” of songs.
  • Choirs can do away with just the melody of the song. No need to do the four-voice melodies if they cannot justify it.
  • Intros and extros of the songs should be arranged in a manner that it is brief and concise.
  • Choirs are required to give a list of the active members of their choir and the venue and dates of their rehearsals to Fr. Henry.
